Struggling to get Samsung Smart Switch or Samsung Kies to install to Windows 10 with an error saying error “The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.”.

Uninstall all previous versions of Kies and uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package from Programs and Features, then reboot your PC.

Download the correct version for your device from http://www.samsung.com/za/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/

  1. What versions of Kies are available? The current version of Kies is 3.2.16084.2 and is the latest version since we last checked. This is the full offline installer setup file for PC. This site has hosted other versions of it in the past such as 3.2.16011.2, 3.2.15041.2 and 3.2.14034.17. At the moment, only the latest version is available.
  2. Samsung Kies and a Samsung device can be hooked up via a USB data cable, which comes in the product package. When the device is linked with the computer, the compatible device driver is automatically installed by the computer. At times, this installation may have to be done manually. The connection would be automatically established thereafter.
